Barbara has 25+ years of business experience within non-profit, technology, financial services and social enterprise organizations, helping them assess markets, define and implement successful strategies and partnerships, and developing and launching new products and initiatives. She brings creativity and passion to new business development. Helping entrepreneurial and socially-minded organizations meet their objectives and deliver on their mission motivates and inspires her.
Barbara is Vice President of Learning Innovation at Minnesota Children’s Museum where she leads the exhibit development and education teams. Prior to joining the Museum, she led strategic initiatives as the Director of Business Development at the National Institute on Media and the Family, consulted independently and co-founded RAW Design/Build, an experiential learning program that offers hands-on design / build experiences for architecture students. Barbara received her MBA from New York University and her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Barbara is a lifelong learner and adventurer. She has lived in Germany, Singapore and Mexico, and traveled extensively, including a trip to Kenya and Tanzania 25 years ago that left a powerful impression. Barbara lives in South Minneapolis with her husband Paul and two teenagers, Siri and Paavo, where she can be found most days on the sidelines of a soccer, hockey or baseball game.
