Born and raised in Tanzania, Gracious Msuya is an educator and recognized community leader in Minnesota. He has held various leadership roles within the Tanzanian community in the Twin Cities and is actively involved in non-profit organizations working in Minnesota and Tanzania.
Gracious was introduced to Educate Tanzania at a Minnesota-based conference in 2011 and has been connected ever since. Gracious joined the ETI Board of Directors in 2012, became Vice President in 2015 and then Board Chair in 2016.
In 2013 Gracious returned to Tanzania for a visit with two of his daughters. He was able to visit Karagwe and meet with leaders of KARUCO. He visited the proposed KARUCO campus site, saw the construction progress, infrastructure needs and discussed priorities and implementation strategies with the KARUCO Task Force and KARUCO Coordinator. His report to the ETI Board of Directors upon his return was instrumental in affirming mutual priorities between ETI and the KARUCO Task Force.
Gracious is an educator in the Albertville/St Michael Schools in Minnesota. He also works with individuals with disabilities through Hammer Residences in Wayzata, MN. He attends Constance Free Church in Andover and Minnesota Swahili Christian Congregation.
Gracious earned a Doctor of Education degree (Administration and Leadership) from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. He also holds a Master’s degree in Special Education from St. Cloud State University, MN. Holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Metropolitan State University, MN, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Economics from University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
Gracious lives with his wife, Florence, and four children in Andover, MN. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, traveling, distance running and spending time with family and friends.
