Project for Awesome – Educate Tanzania

From her passion, zeal and impelling words to her ”weird hair flip” (@1:33 – don’t miss it!) Rachel Vipond really hit the mark with her creative piece to promote Educate Tanzania.  Rachel introduced the ETI Board to Project for Awesome or “P4A”, which is a community-driven charitable movement on YouTube by creators of the well known VlogBrothers YouTube Channel. Originally called the Nerdfighter Power Project for Awesome, the event takes place the second Friday and Saturday in December each year (as it has since 2007), and lasts for 48 hours.  The idea is to have YouTubers use their creative skills to build original and innovative videos that promote their favorite charity.  The creators and the charities then do their best to rally votes for the video.  The goal is to gain awareness and donations from YouTube audiences for the selected charities.  In 2013 over $800,000. was donated to the top 20 charities.  In 2014, friends of ETI got the ETI vid ranked about in the middle (!) among all videos for number of ‘votes’.  Think of what we can do next year!

Rachel Vipond has worked with Educate Tanzania since June, 2014 as our “Communications and Media Intern”.  Her main job is to help ETI achieve its charitable purposes 1) through strategic planning with communications and media and 2) through enhancement of our media presence in all appropriate forms. Rachel designed Draft One of our new ETI Brochure which was submitted to the ETI officers and board and then to our Graphic Designer, Chris Ernt who donated his professional talents of editing, layout and finishing touches. Rachel knows how to work on a team and is not shy about getting the ETI message out there where it belongs.  Feel free to download our new ETI brochure and share with your circles of family and friends.  Educate Tanzania Brochure 2014-15
